in Batman. The day before university result is going to get published,i will turn to the coin to put my mind on rest. And when the result came, coin always proved to be right because I always landed on a 40 or 41 rather than a 39.(40 is the mark you need to get a pass in University of Kerala, B.tech exam).

<img style="display:block; That was some years back and now I am in less confusion and i know me better(Like i don't have to flip a coin to decide whether i will get my paycheck or not). And i use the coin very rarely to flip. But i still find a beauty in putting the logic to rest and let the coin show me the way.For example i am tempted to use the coin when i am in confusion to "head" a pretty girl sitting in the next cubicle or continue my gentle stalking!

I was searching in Google for some solution for some bug in office one day ,and stumbled upon this poem by Piet Hein titled " A Psychological Tip "

Whenever you're called on to make up your mind,
and you're hampered by not having any,
the best way to solve the dilemma, you'll find,
is simply by spinning a penny.
No - not so that chance shall decide the affair
while you're passively standing there moping;
but the moment the penny is up in the air,
you suddenly know what you're hoping

Yes,now I know why I used to flip coin like a maniac.Because the coin lets your heart reveal your true desire!
So next time when you are in confusion, don't hesitate, just flip a coin!

Animal Spirits

On of my all time favorite quote, says "when politicians sleeps nation marches to progress".So we should actually feel a little relieved, when a our policy makers sleep in the Parliament.I remember seeing our future PM(Rahul Gandhi) taking a "power nap" during(2010) a budget session. So i was delighted to read a passage by a highly regarded gentleman on what he calls "The Animal Spirit".

John Maynard Keynes is in many ways the Einstein of economics.Below is a passage from him.

"Even apart from the instability due to speculation, there is the instability due to the characteristic of human nature that a large proportion of our positive activities depend on spontaneous optimism rather than mathematical expectations, whether moral or hedonistic or economic. Most, probably, of our decisions to do something positive, the full consequences of which will be drawn out over many days to come, can only be taken as the result of animal spirits - a spontaneous urge to action rather than inaction, and not as the outcome of a weighted average of quantitative benefits multiplied by quantitative probabilities".

Making it simple,he wants to say, above all calculations and statistics,it is spirit of the people(The very beautiful "spontaneous surge of action rather than inaction") which take the nation forward,no matter how many Suresh Kalmadis it has to bear with!

It seems finally as a nation,we have awakened our animal spirits.

His name is khan

<img style="display:block; When i see these videos i could not help but wonder like Amir Khan in "Tata Sky" Ad.."Bai..hamare zamane me ye sab kyun nahi the..".And all teacher's can off course
get inspired by the way each and every topic is explained there.

So whom ever reads this ,please spread the word. Finally change has arrived in education.

PS: i was in hurry to put this thing together. Will edit to make it better later.Do check out the site.See this link Incentive is the same thing which "life coaching" people call "motivation”, and we ordinary people call "reason”. We do anything if we have a reason strong enough to do that.

When things are bad for us, and it is hard to stand, the reason is implicit. Things are bad. So we will try to make it better any way. Then things start changing and they will become good. Good means good enough. That is the time when it becomes the enemy of the best. Once it is good we tend to lose the motivation to make it better and pursue the best. We tend to settle for the good. There is nothing bad about. It is OK. But after a while we may struck by a thought that we had it in us and we would have gone a lot forward if we had tried enough, at the right time. It is Indira Gandhi who said "I like to go to that extra mile, because there is no competition over there"(Or something very similar to this..).When you are best, then the best thing about it is you are the best and you know that. That feeling is unmatchable. So when you are at good and you are lacking your focus and motivation and getting caught by the "Chalega" attitude, one thing that can help you a lot is the imagination.

"The biggest hurdle to our growth is our own lack of imagination”. We should be able to imagine, then change that imagination in to belief, and the belief to a conviction, and conviction will always result in action.

PS: The funny image you see in the beginning is the first image that turns up for Google image search for the key word "Incentive".And that carrot should never be our incentive.

Wow!!!!!!!

No words...watch and enjoy....

This is a simple zen story which a read when i was a child. The beauty of zen stories lies their simplicity. They are simple, yet profound.
"A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him.Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a lucious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!"

I often see two kind of people.First category intuitively know what to do and how to do in all situations.I have met some people like that.I envy them. But rest of us learn life the hard way.We try,we fail,we learn. And that loop never ends.I guess the above story is for people like us,we suffer a lot to get a little. And after some time we may learn to enjoy the suffering itself.

This makes a team

My office is the most wierd place i have ever been to.It can be compared to a zoo or circus, but characters here are much more unpredictable.(I am also
a part of that...i agree :).So when i got this mail forward,i felt like i should share this with you.Hope all IT guyz will love it...

Note:email forward.
(definition for various designations in an IT company)
1. This made me think about this general thing about all moms i know..
My mom always manage to convince me to do many thing a never wanted to do.From swallowing a bitter pill when i am ill to taking up the course i hate most at college.Little or big,she always had this divine ability to make me forget about my line of argument at the midway.
Mothers ..they love us,take care of us,make the best food on the whole world(you can always argue that your taste buds are conditioned by her food ,that is why you like it the most..),pushes us when we lack momentum, consoles us when we are sad, motivates us and inspires us.They give their best to their children. But this thing i hate..

May be they feel comfortable in deciding what is good for us ( wether they are right or not)... Or may be we are not very clear on what we exactly want and hence end up doing what others want us to do.I dont know. What I know is I end up in swallowing bitter pills quite often, some times that helps and some time it wont..
Telling Lies!!!

How often you tell lies?
Once i was very stubborn and straightforward.I will tell what ever i feel to whom ever on their face.Just wont care. But now i have learned from plenty of experiences that
honesty with out tact is nothing short of foolishness. And silence is more important than words most of the time.As they say "Words are silver,But Silence is Gold".
The basic truth about people is..

What ever the truth is people see it in a way that is comfortable to them.so whats the point in being "blindly" truthful .So i would say things as situation demands. If we can say truth, great!!!!
But if it will create a situation which we cannot handle a half truth will be better people became what they are...

I happened to read one book some three months ago,and i am still reading it for nth time.It is that addictive that I thought i shall share this with you.

"Stay hungry, stay foolish" is a famous Steve Jobs quote.Thats the title of the book.It the story of 25 IIM Ahmedadbad Alumnies ,who started their own entreprises, instead of staying at the high paid corprate jobs.It includes the well known ventures like naukiri.com,subhiksha(the reatail chain),India Infoline,Mphasis,Sintex etc to name a few.

Its a dynamite. It will explode inside your brain and set fire in you.You wont be the same person after reading it.
If you have read alchemist,i would say this is a realistic counterpart of that.Alchemist inspires you by telling a

romantic story of a boy chasing his dream, here we have 25 real stories which will keep inspired for ever.

i am far from an entrepreneur.I lack the daring as well as energy to be one.But still i found it very inspiring, because it pushes you to do something.Doing is living.More you do more you experience and hence more you live.It pushes me to make my life broader, deeper, richer with fascinating experiences.

Its also is the story of new, shining, daring India. Its often said that "When nation is progressing, its leaders are sleeping".In our case, yes,if our leaders are awake they wont let us progress. These 25 people who's story is covered in this book, represents the set of new age entrepreneurs who made our country progress.Who once again ,may be after centuries ,made India a place where things are happening.

Happy reading!

Read more about the book two plus one is ...

What time it will take to convince a person that two plus one is three?..Well that depends a lot on whom you are trying to convince.

I was at home because i had nothing to do n office and so was my 6 year old cousin. He was very happy because there was a "harthal"(this happens once in month in kerala.. you can think of it as a surprise public holiday).
Though he was in second standard,he could hardly read a full sentence either in malayalam or english. He can count up to 100, and he know alphabets. His mother was very much worried about his condition. So that day i thought i will give shot in "teaching" him.We are good friends...so when i convayed my intention he didnt run away..may be he thought it will be fun with me.

We started straight away with maths..
i gave him a simple addition problem.21 plus 12..he stared at the paper and did nothing.ah..he need my help ok..
we shall make problem simpler...i asked him..what is 2+1?
He thought a little then said twenty one!
I put 2+1 = on paper and said "see my fingers..this 1 then see two more..now that makes it three..see..."
His face was blank..i got it that he was far from convinced..
He got up and walked to his school bag, took his eraser and came back.
Then he erased the plus sign in between 2 and 1 and said "see its twenty one".Oh so he has got a point...
This brought the "tare zameen par" scene where young ishant gives examinantion .
I was puzzled by his counter argument for a moment..how to convince him that meaning of addition is not erasing the + sign?

Luckily he was interested in drawing .so took his color pencils and a half an hour demonstration with color pencils convinced him about basic principle of addition.
<img my taste is a little different.I copied movie to my hard disk days before but never went past the dialog "my mother says that life is like a chocolate box".One day ,i didnt had anything else to do and i was getting bored like hell i was able to go past the "chocolate" box.

And i tell you if there is any thing like "life changing movie",then this is it.There are many scenes and dialogs that are unforgettable in this movie, but the best i would say is the climax.hence i am posting it...

<object width="425" once a while. Can we pin up notes on the wall?put photo frames?pile up files just like we do on our real desktops?

If your PC has a ram more than 1 gb(i am sure these days most of us have),the answer is as obama says,"YES WE CAN".

They call this product "bumptop".It is desktop environment.Once we start using it we will call the ordinary desktop as "dumptop",because we will realize how live a desktop can be.Unlike over ordinary desktop, its 3-d.I wonder why Microsoft dont make this their default desktop, that will make windows a lot better in looks.

The base version is free and we have to pay for advanced versions.

For more about bumptop see these ...
Yes you read it right its LAND MARK.
We have an outlet of landmark at our office,(if you have not heard about land mark...they are book sellers). You will see a lot of interesting books there which you feel you could buy,but looking at price and your wallet, you decide not to buy.It happens very often to me as i spend my book budget with in days i get my salary. But the best thing about land mark is they wont mind if you stay there for the whole day and you dont buy a thing. So what i do is i will just stand there and read books.Time is plenty. My HR want me in the office building from 9 to 5..but there is
no work for me now.
Last week i successfully completed 3 books.
1.Just for fun.(read the previous post)
2.Stay hungry ,stay foolish:This one was a dynamite.Packed with inspiration.I got so interested in this book that i bought it.And only to loose it after a day ,in train. So i had to finish it at land mark itself.
3.The man who knew infinity:Its a biography of Sreenivasa Ramanaujan(the mathematician).

One more shamless and "innovative" way to beat recession!<div people to do what they do:
1.Survival:-undisputable
2.Social relations:-to get respect.honor, admiration etc People go after wealth and power for this reason.People give up their life for greater cause because

of this reason.
3.Entertainment/fun:-People do something because its fun.Can you believe it?just fun.Einstein did what he did because it was fun for him.Linus is a

geek, cause geeking is fun for him.

I guess thats the difference between a genius and others. We people do things for first 2 motivation,a genius does it of 3rd reason.

Good.I feel this is the ultimate phlosophy of life.Simple, yet profound.

In swadesh this NRI playing an avtar of bhagvan vishnu was ok.After that NRIs started raining from the heaven and i am now
am getting really irritated now.I now want to be the guy who shot Abhishek Bachan in climax, and shoot all NRI heros
who comes to save us.

And finally can you give me tips to judge wether a movie is good from the promo?
<img width='1' height='1' indians(because we they dont allow
us to have local numbers here). It offers instant messenger, video conferencing and file transfer.

Installation:
Its a freeware.Go to skype.com ,download 2.1 mb installer and run it.It will do the
rest. And if it fail to install you can try the full set up(about 22.2MB).Need less to say you need microphone, speaker
and optionally a webcam,to use skype.

How to get started:
You need a skype account for that. After installation ,when you run it for first time you can fill in the form and get an account.

How to find friends:
You can use your friends name, skypename or e-mail id to find him/her.His name along with his city ,so its really easy to find friends. It allows to import conatcts from out look as well as yahoo.

Yes but not from your gmail account, well thats bad!
What can you do with it:
you can do video chat and instant messaging, both are free skype to skype.
you can even call to mobile and landline numbers, but thats a paid service.<div choosing people to love. They ask themselves
wether they should or can love a person or not. They have a hamlet in them, asking to be or not to be.

<br love that person. They may succeed, or they may compramise (adjust).I said they are lucky
because they avoid the dilemma when you have choice in your hand,if you choose, you become type='text'>Random Thoughts on programming

-Programming is not rocket science. In my view it requiries moderate problem solving skills and ability to map your thought to the language you use.Its very similar to school maths, the "toughest" part is to learn all those
axioms and formulae(read as syntax and built-in libraries).Once you understand then you should learn to custom use them for your specific problem. And you keep doing that(aka "practice"),you becomes a "good" programmer.
-Usually we see music, art and litreture as the "real" creative work, and i feel like programming is the art of left brain. Its a kind of poem of reasoning.
-we have electronic hobbiest who may not make nobel winning devices ,but for sure making funny little devices that works is kind of relaxing activity which gives our brain some engagement with enjoyment.I feel making small programs gives a similar kind of joy to me.The joy which we feel after making the beautiful sand castle at river bed(in kerala we have wet river beds with lot of sand but
little water in summer!).

Speed dating and Arranged marriages

I came to know about speed dating first through the books like "blink" .If you are not familiar with the idea of speed dating you can read it here.
Recently my cousin was telling his experience about his first "bride seeing".He said it lasted only for a few minutes..and he had to make a decision wether to go forward in such short time.Hearing this i felt there is something common between speed dating and bride seeing.

So what does speed dating have in common with arranged marriages?

By arranged marriage i mean the kind of marraige common among middle class families in our society where family or family friends brings an "alliance".Then after the scrutiny by the family the potential partners get a chance to meet and talk.Matter can be over by this meeting ,or it can go forward to chatting over phone and finally towards marriage.

In speed dating you only have a little time to decide wether you like your potential partner or not.And in this short time if you happen to like each other then you can take the relationship forward. For those "busy" people in west this saves time, but we have to remember that this kind of dating originated to facilitate jewish youth to find a partner from their own community.

Now think of "bride seeing" we have here( i assume that now a days boys and girls have equal say over their marriage).Given that compatibility issues regarding financial/"cultural" backgrounds (of respective families)have been resolved beforehand , the chance of getting right partner is higher. And we now see that It's not so wrong to select a mate with in a few minutes of the first meeting,Since researchers have ample proof to support the advantages of speed dating.

What do you say?
<img width='1' height='1' tv.(Yes,because i had nothing else to do...).i was watching the debate on the confidence motion by PM.i heard all our leaders trying to explain their stance. And offcource there were a handfull of good for nothing speaches..but those who where really important gave really good speaches. They appeared to be people with a lot of energy and will.I am not claiming all of them are clean but i felt like all of them have
something in them that makes them leaders.i liked especially talk by lalu prasad yadav,Omar abdulla,Advani etc.(Those where not extra-ordinary but they were good).
Generally we speak about politics as a dirty affair. We speak of politicians as people with out inegrity. But watching two days of parlimant has changed my view a little. Its hard to be a plitician.I cannot imagine how they are managing to be active at this age(advani is above 80 now!!!).

Those people are playing in mud,so its obvious that they will get dirty. They do this because they are willing to play in mud,and plenty of others are not.
So there is no point in expecting them to be clean. They do not come from heaven..they are the product of our society.

So in short i here by accept politics to be the toughest thing to do in our society...and respect all those people "playing in the mud."<div dead. They will stuff it and put it in a museum, like they have done to the countless civilisations of Africa, America ,central Asia, and Europe.

If our culture has a heart ,still type='text'>Two types of Hinduism

Hinduism, gives immense freedom to its follower. It allows the seeker to follow his/her chosen path towards god offering great flexibility. For instance in Hinduism you can worship god in many different ways. For instance god can be male or female and countless other forms. It is like all religions converging
to a single point. It is thus inclusive and most dynamic of all religions.

But the paradox lies in the social order in Hinduism. It is barbaric and doubtlessly designed to exploit the weaker section of society for ever.It is the most static of any known social order.By ones birth his/her course of life is decided and nothing can change an individual's fate.
<br inclusiveness and dynamic nature of Hindu philosophy...

Or in Other words can Hinduism exist with out caste system?
<img width='1' presentation of our main project..and our project group have five people me,dev, anoop, abhi and jyothish.
All started when in the morning i tried to run our project..it was a small web search engine. It was not running..everything was jut fine
when we checked last night but today...It cannot download a page completely..then it cannot extract a link...
it cannot update the database...it just crashed!!!!
i was panicked...i just couldnt find out what i could do...
then all of my friends came to my room ,they were also shocked to know the situation.
It didnt stop there.when anoop came he looked very much worried ,on asking he said he just escaped narrowly from an accident..
a car was to hit on his byke..but it breaked just near his byke.
how ever we decided to present our project..tell some excuse to show it running another day.
when we started our presentation we was surprised to see the response from the staff.Far from appreciating or listening
they were so indisciplined that they were getting in and out of the hall randomely.
needless to say it affected our presentation..at the end our HOD said some bad remark on abhis presentation...
he couldnt take it and fired back!!!(Their dislike towards each other is well known in our calss...this was not the first time this happend).
result was obvious ....all teachers came togather to proove our project is nothing but a crap on Q and A session.
We then presented our report...abhi was upset and went home..
Next thing was that our report was rejected!
They said that it was no neat and "Big" enough to be a poject report!!?
Thus we lost 1k Rs and will have to spend one more thousand rs to get a "neat" and "big" report!
We reached back to my room..discussed the situation...and all went home.
1 or 2hrs later..i got a call from jyo...he lost a hundred Rs note...and was asking wether i found it in my room!!!
Howzzzzat?!!!!
<img width='1' height='1'
Love Marriage

Resembles procedural programming language. We have some set of functions like flirting, going to movies together, making long conversations on phone and then try to fit all functions to the candidate we like.

Family system hangs because hardware (called Parents) is not responding.

You are the project leader so “U” are responsible for implementation and execution of PROJECT- married life.

Client expectations include exciting feature as spouse cooking food, washing clothes etc.

Love Marriage is like Windows, beautiful n seductive…. We first fix the candidate and then try to implement functions on her. The functions are added to supplement the main program.
